Why Accessibility Matters in Insurance

Insurance is one of the most important financial decisions a person makes. The ability to compare coverage options, understand policy terms, and make informed decisions should never be limited by a disability or assistive technology barrier. At InsureDirect LLC, we believe that every person — regardless of ability — deserves equal access to the tools and information needed to protect their family, home, and livelihood.

This commitment extends beyond legal compliance. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act establish baseline requirements for digital accessibility, but our goal is to exceed those standards. We design our platform with the understanding that users interact with digital content in many different ways — through screen readers, keyboard navigation, voice control, and other assistive technologies — and that each of these interaction methods deserves a first-class experience.

If you are a person with a disability who needs assistance obtaining an insurance quote, reviewing policy documents, or communicating with a licensed agent, please contact us directly. We will work with you to ensure you receive the same quality of service as any other customer, through whatever communication method works best for you.

Our Accessibility Roadmap

Accessibility is not a one-time project — it is an ongoing commitment that requires continuous attention as our platform evolves. Our current accessibility roadmap includes the following priorities:

WCAG 2.1 AA Audit: A comprehensive third-party audit of our entire platform against WCAG 2.1 Level AA criteria, with remediation of all identified issues.
Quote Form Accessibility: Ensuring our insurance quote forms are fully navigable by keyboard and screen reader, with clear error messaging and field labeling throughout the multi-step process.
Document Accessibility: Converting all policy summary documents and educational PDFs to accessible formats with proper tagging, reading order, and alternative text.
Video Captions: Adding closed captions and transcripts to all video content on the platform, including any educational insurance explainer videos.
Mobile Accessibility: Ensuring full accessibility compliance on mobile devices, including proper touch target sizing and compatibility with iOS VoiceOver and Android TalkBack.
